In INFO by admin / 12 maggio 2013 / 0 Comments

NuovoCadore.it  is a local tourist information portal which aims to support, promote and improve Cadore by bringing together information, news and ideas about the area. NuovoCadore.it aims to become a port of call for all those who are born and raised in Cadore as well as those who want to visit. The aim is also to create a kind of round table, a meeting point between all the key players in this area (local councils, associations, groups etc.).  NuovoCadore.it aims, through its communication channels, to spread certain core values which are important anywhere in the world and which are especially fundamental to life in the mountains. These include: love and respect for nature; solidarity towards those around us; freedom of expression and opinion; and openness towards constructive debate.

Since its inception in October 2009, NuovoCadore.it represents a tangible reality, dynamic and constantly evolving.

The portal (focal point of all the activities) is interactive and allows comments to be raised, events to be highlighted, and articles to be translated into over 20 languages. Among the various services offered, we can pick out web-based local weather forecasts, webcams across Cadore, traffic information and the forum, the latter being an integral part of the website and an excellent place to meet others, exchange opinions and share ideas and projects. NuovoCadore.it is also present on all the major social networking sites including Facebook, where our official page is one of the most active in the whole of the Belluno province. The portal has also been enabled for smartphone viewing.

The “CADORE: magic land” guide is just one of a range of projects which NuovoCadore.it is taking forwards. Others include: CiclabileDolomiti.com, a website dedicated to the Dolomites cycleway; DolomitiBellunesi.com, which brings together images of the most beautiful mountains in the world; a project on snowshoes treks; and other initiatives which are currently being developed.

Magnifica Comunità di Cadore

In INFO by admin / 12 maggio 2013 / 0 Comments

The Magnifica Comunità di Cadore is based in the palace on Piazza Tiziano in Pieve di Cadore, alongside the archdeaconal church which symbolises the region’s faith. This ancient institution, founded in the fourteenth century, has for centuries represented Cadore’s autonomy of government thanks to a system of self-governance. From 1338 Cadore’s citizens had a statute, a set of rules which regulated civil, political and administrative affairs and which was updated continually in the centuries that followed. It fell to Napoleon, in 1806, to suppress the Magnificent Community which would later see its rebirth, as a moral entity, in 1875. Today the palace is home to the MARC, Cadore Archaeological Museum, which showcases the pre-Roman and Roman archaeological treasures from the sanctuary of Lagole and the central part of Cadore. The museum houses numerous exhibits: vases, handles of simpulum, ornate bronze sheets and figures, weapons, knives and day-to-day tools, and ceramic and glass receptacles. In addition, the palace is home to a precious archive comprising a historic collection of documents (decrees and scripts from the 13th to  the19th century) and a modern library bringing together studies and research articles on the Cadore, as well as a specialist library dedicated to Titian. Not far from the palace is the childhood home of Titian, first built in the 15th century and subsequently altered several times. Only the radical restorative intervention completed in 1932, organised by the Magnificent Community which owns the building, restored the artist’s home to its original state. Today the building is made up of two storeys in masonry with wooden external staircase and balconies and a two-layered roof covered in traditional wooden shingles. On December 17th 1922, Royal Decree no. 1725 declared the house a national monument.

Introduction

In INFO by admin / 9 maggio 2013 / 0 Comments

The UNESCO recognition bestowed upon Cadore and its Dolomites has helped to launch its new tourist season. The opportunity to shine a light on an area of the Dolomites traditionally associated with wellbeing, culture and cuisine, fresh air and relaxing walks as well as more demanding outdoor sports and activities including mountain biking and great skiing (downhill and cross-country), requires a fresh and exciting way of presenting what Cadore has to offer.

It is for this reason that we are pleased to present to you the “CADORE terra magica” guide in both the traditional printed, illustrated format and at the same time the web-based version aimed at the growing online community.

The idea of NuovoCadore.it is to appeal to an increasingly varied tourist market using a range of techniques as diverse as the area they promote.

The guide, in its intelligent simplicity, represents an enticing invitation to visit, live and get to know Cadore, showcasing its cultural, panoramic and natural riches, which together form a single, unique tourist experience. And it is this uniqueness which underpins the guide as it promotes the beauty and charm which emanates from the Central Cadore lake and Lagole, from the slopes of the majestic Antelao and Rite mountains and the murales of Cibiana, and, in the footsteps of the great Titian, touches every one of the alpine refuges, the Spalti di Toro and their mythical inhabitants, and finally reaches as far up as Sappada and Comelico with their echoes of the Great War, and the picturesque Tre Cime di Lavaredo reflected on the surface of lake Santa Caterina.

Il Cadore: terra magica

In INFO by admin / 14 novembre 2012 / 0 Comments
